The latter set a f:ist early pace and finished gamelv, but tired in the last sixteenth. MATIN ran a good race, but finished tiring. SEA WAVE began slowly and finished fust. BROOKS fenced well and showed the most speed nearly all the way, swerved to the outside at the twelfth fence, then drew away and won in a canter. MASTERFUL was taken back in the lirst time around and moved up with a rush when going to the twelfth fence, but tired near the finish. SOCONY ran a game race. THE BROOK was in front after taking the twelfth fence, but stumbled on the flat and lost his rider. SIMON JONES was interfered with by the riderless THE BROOK. COURTSHIP was much used in racing FIRST BALLOT and REPROBATE into defeat and was tiring at the end. CADILLAC raced forwardly, but also tired and just outstayed WAUKEAG. The latter finished fast and gamely. LOTTERY made up ground. REPROBATE was a close contender to the last eighth, then tired badly. FIRST BALLOT set a fast early pace, but quit in the stretch.
