Baltimore, Md., November 0. A fatal accident attended the running of the Mount Washington Steeplechase at Pimlico this afternoon, in which jockey Harry Tansey, who had the mount on J. T. Gwathmeys Reliance, suffered a broken neck. This mishap occurred at the first fence, where Reliance made a bad jump and unseated Tansey. From the grandstand it seemed that Tansey was struck to-one of the other horses, which lost their riders at the same fence. Parrete, who had the mount on Toreoro, suffered a fractured wrist and a slight cut over his right eye. The winner of the chase turned up in Stonewood. which beat Sharpshooter by a length and a half. Of the fourteen horses that started in the race, only four finished the course. The colors of H. G. Bedwell were conspicuous during the afternoon. Mr. Bedwell furnished the winners of the Annapolis Handicap and the Severn Handicap in Golden List and Brave Cunarder. He had to stand an advance of 00 to retain the latter.
