QUITE HOPEFUL OUT WEST GENERAL REVIVAL OF RACING IN FAR WESTERN STATES PREDICTED. Measures Legalizing Pari-Mutuels to Be Fought For in Legislatures of California and "Washington Next Winter. San Francisco. Cal., November 12. The prosper-ous condition of racing in the east is reflected by the revival of interest in the far west, where meetings will be staged in Colorado, Wyoming, Nevada, Arizona and possibly Idaho, Washington and California 111 the coming summer. Such is the word brought by Al Dobson, the well-known turf official, who arrived Wednesday after a tour of the tracks across the Rockies. Dobson declares that a circuit will be formed and racing promoted in many sections when the meeting at Tijuana is concluded. A bill providing for the pari-mutuel form of wagering will be introduced in the legislature of the State of Washington, and a similar movement is under way in California, i.riends of racing in Idaho are confident of bringing back the sport. At the other points assurance has been given that racing will return. The Washington bill is considered to have a good chance to pass and, if it does, Seattle and Spokane will form the nucleus of the circuit. The measure calls for meetings of limited length and if Idaho falls in line it will pave the way for a circuit of short shipments. Then if California is favored with some desirable legislation, it will give the western breeders and horsemen one of the most extensive strings of meetings ever held out here. It will mean racing the year round, with Tijuana as the winter stopping-off place. There is a chance of arranging the circuit to make un programs of mixed running and trotting. The thoroughbred and standard-bred horsemen are getting together to work for the success of the horse-breeding industry, which lias fallen off greatly since the cessation of racing on the coast.
