NEGOTIATING FOR AN ENGLISH STALLION. Montreal, Que., November 12. Grant Hugh Browne, managing director of the Western Racing Association at Devonshire Park, Windsor, Out., is negotiating for the purchase of the English stallion Flotsam. This is one of the few horses which defeated the great Rock Sand while lie was racing. It is the intention of Mr. Browne to place the horse in the stud at the Devonshire Park course for the benefit of Canadians who wish to breed to him. This stallion traces his breeding to various Derby winners and should become a useful sire in this country. He will likely be shipped to Mount Royal Park for a term each season, so that Montreal owners can also take advantage of the opportunity of breeding to him. Flotsam was purchased for the Argentine Republic and afterwards repurchased by an English syndicate. He is by St. Frusquin Float and was foaled in 1900. He won four of his eight races and 3,333. Besides being an excellent race horse, he was a highly successful sire in Argentina. If he comes over lie should prove a valuable acquisition.
