Bowie, Md., November 2S. A crack field of sprinters sported silks in the Eclipse Highweight Handicap, for three-year-olds and over, at three-quarters of a mile, which was the star contest decided at the Bowie track this afternoon. The field was a well matched one. Top o th Morning, which was making his first start since the Laurel meeting, was made the favorite, even though he carried the crushing weight of 140 pounds, while E. T. Zollicoffers speedy three-year-old filly. Fruit Cake, was next in demand. AV. J. Anderson supplied the winner of the race in Yankee Notions, but he was a lucky horse to score, as everything broke in his favor. Kewessa, which ran him to a head at the end, was badly knocked about all during the running and, once he got clear, closed a big gap. Dominick rode an inferior race on Fruit CaUe, which was probably best, but she finished third, beaten a length for second money, after being forced out at the head of the stretch, when the Anderson horse carried her out. Yankee Notions swerving out ruined the chances of several other starters in the race. The condition books for the fifteen stake races that will be run during the Business Mens Racing Associations meeting at New Orleans reached the track today and were distributed among the horsemen. The stakes are a valuable list, ranging from the 1.000 added features to the 4,000 guaranteed race, which is known as the Hotel-Mens Handicap for three-year olds and over, at a mile and a sixteenth and is scheduled to be run on Saturday, February 10. Jockey J. Callahan was among the new arrivals in town today. After the closing race the three-year-old gelding Hops went into the stable of J. O. Talbott. J., in the hope that he may be patched up for next year. Andrew Ulakely will ship his string back to Gravesend at the close of this meeting.
