GENERAL NEWS NOTES OF THE DAY. The Gorman army on the east has approached within thirty miles of Bucharest and the Roumanian government lias hurriedly been moved to Jassy, 200 miles northeast and near the Russian line. The Serbian troops are gaining ground on the Macedonian front east of the Cerna river. A violent battle is in progress northwest of Monastir. The Greek crown council, after a long session, decided to support King Constantine in defying the allies demands. Carranza forces have been forced to evacuate Chihuahua City, one of the most important cities in Mexico. An earthquake in middle Japan has done considerable destruction.
