RARE OLD CAMPAIGNER IS SLEETH OF THE ADAIR and BAKER STABLE i i A rare old campaigner is Sleeth, the bay gelding by Deutschland Merida, which helped to put the stable of Adair and Baker well on the sunny side of the expense ledger during the recent racing season. Year after year, with the exception of 1914, since entering his three-year-old career, Sleeth has been returned winner of a liberal number of races, and has brought to his owners substantial returns in 1912, ,111; in 1913. ,37S; in 1915. ,075, and in 1910, 1916.sh,410. And these have been largely selling races, although for the better class of such horses. This year one selling stake contributed to his reaching the highest earning total in his career, although he won one less race than he had in both 1912 and 1913. He has won this year at various distances and on almost all kinds of tracks and nearly always by a commanding margin. "Nothing but winners" was the rule in the Adair and Baker stable this year, every one of the five horses having at least one victory to his credit. Next to Sleeth the most productive to the present owners were Samuel R. Meyer, another old-timer, and the four-year-old Roseoe Goose, but this is because Bringhurst, which is probably the fastest horse in the stable, did not come into the possession of Adair and Baker until the season was half over. Bob Dnndon, the only two-year-old in the stable, has but one winning mark to his credit. The record of the stable for the year is as follows: Horse. Col. and Sex. A. Pedigree. 1st. 2d. 3d. Won.
