ANOTHER RACE FOR REFUGEE. Three-Year-Old Hamburg Gelding Defeats Bird Man Good Racing at Oriental Park. Havana, Cuba, December 14. Itefugee, the three-year-old son of Hamburg First Flight, racing in the stable of W. P. Heed, won another race at Oriental Park this afternoon, when he showed his heels to a band of fair sprinters in the fourth race at five and a half furlongs. He was closely pressed at the finish, however, to retain his advantage over Bird Man. The older horse was his closest pursuer throughout and was gaining at the finish. Sir Wellons, a Jim Gaffney colt in the stable of W. F. Schulte. won the two-year-old race, that opened the days sport. He followed the pacemaker. Lord Byron, to the last sixteenth and then, when the latter tired, withstood Olyn O.s challenge at the finish and Avon by a length. Stony Brook was outpaced throughout. J. B. Respess Dick Welles filly Owana proved much the best in the second. She took a good lead at the start and won in almost hollow fashion from San Jon and After Night, two long shots in the betting. Father Kelly and Golden List, both well-backed, raced moderately. The speculators were disappointed in the third race when Smirking, an outsider, after running well tip to the stretch took the lead in the closing Ntrides and won from Arcene, with Lord Wells the favorite in third place. Mrs. Mc showed a brief flight of speed in this race. The Marrone Stable scratched Sam McMeekin out of the fifth race at a mile and seventy yards, in which it had two entries, and let Golden Gate Jim for the money. The latter proved equal to the task, and coming along fast at the finish won in a drive from Pin Money. Brave Cunarder showed wiine early speed in this race although he tired and wound up In last place. Golden Gate, a three-; car-old. was giving all of his opponents weight by the scale and his showing was a good one.
