KING TUSCAN WINS BEDWELL A PURSE. King Stalwart Takes a Race Alhena Beaten at Odds -On Louise Stone- a Stayer. Havana, Cuba, December 20. King Tuscan won lit third purse of the Havana meeting this afternoon, when be beat a fair band of selling platers in the fourth race, for three-year-olds and over at three-quarters of a mile. The son of King dames was the opening favorite in the betting, but receded from to 3 to 1, more money apparently going to Outlook. The latter was never prominent after the flag fall. King Tuscan was away slowly, but Taplin gradually worked him up to a contending position and then, on the stretch turn, the l.edwell entry sneaked an advantage and from then on had little difficulty in wearing Thesiorvis down. The latter had supplanted Silver Bill as the pacemaker. Thesieros did not tire perceptibly until the final sixteenth, but was beaten two lengths. Silver Dill bung on for third money. King Stalwart, in the front division at the start of the first race, at once took a good lead and kept it to the finish, but was tiring perceptibly and only defeated Dromi by a half length. The bitter was saved in third place until in the stretch said could not quite get np, but beat Uarette for second place. Izzet Boy. the favorite, ran in second nlao: to the K stretcli and then retired. Refugee, the even-money choice, went :t once to the front, when the second race, for :dl ages, was started and held his. advantage easily to the finish. W. C. Capps two-year-old Radiant Flower was closest to the three-year-old leader throughout N and beat the others several lengths, Little "Nephew J landing in third place. Lord Dyron, one of the well-backed horses in the two-year-old race and third on the card, refused to start and was left at the post. Olyn f!., the betting selection, won the race without difficulty, showing the way throughout and having a. four-lengths margin over Otisco, which was an equal distance ahead of Kd Garrison. Alhena, the odds-on favorite for the mile race, failed to get up to Goodwood after the latter had followed Uoyal Tea until the latter tired in the stretch. Goodwood winning by more than a length. Ti e mile and an eighth race resulted in an exciting finish. Louise Stone just lasting long enough to beat the favorite. King Box, with which "Ward may have waited too long.
