AN UPSET IN TIJUANA FEATURE RACE. Loan Shark Furnishes the Suprise of the Meeting by Nose Victory Yesterday. Tijuana. Mexico. January 7. — Loan Shark furnished one of the surprises of the meeting, when he won the fourth race, the feature of the day. He came lroni a long way back in the stretch to win handily. Bertha Weaver showed her usual early speed and appeared to be sailing along easily, until challenged by Custom House. No sooner did the black horse show in front, whei Loan Shark came fast on the outside and got up to win by a nose. Bertha Weaver just managed to last to get third money. General upset a good thing, when he defeated Sylvia Shapiro, a mare that has worked wonders in the morning. Sylvia Shapiro did not get away any too well and tired from the effort of chasing General. Mike quickly assumed command in the third race and never left the result in doubt, winning off. Handy Andy was the best to take the opening race. The contract on apprentice bov E. Rice has been soM hj F. T. Shorten to Thomas Hatfield. Hut-field is gathering together another stable and will give Rice an opportunity to make good. Sylvia Shapiro was claimed by E. J. Ramsey.
