HOW WAR EFFECTS ENGLISH RACING. At a recent meeting of the English Jockey Club erne interesting figures were adduced relative to racing in England and Scotland. It was shown that 011 March. 1, 1914. there were 4.014 horses in training in those countries, while on March 1, 191G. the total had fallen to 2.124. The number of horses which ran during the year 1913, was 3.00G, while for th; year 1910, the total was only 1.307. There is no doubt as to the war having made the position difficult for owners in England.
