BAD RIDERS GALORE— WHY DIG DP MORE? Why a race should be fashioned for maiden jockeys, when there are so many bad riders as are riding daily at the Fair Grounds is more than the average turfite can fathom. Each day sees jockeys J. Mulcahey. H. Erickson, J. Rodrigues. J. Dursch, W. Hoag. It. Jaubert and N. Barrett accepting mounts regularly, and it is a well-known fact that they are a bad enough lot without trying to dig up some worse Ymes by making a race for them. The efforts of jockey Mulcahey on Mayme W. were pitiable, and several times it looked a-though he was going to fall off. Rodrigues efforts on Tactless were almost as bad, and there is no wonder that Greetings won just as soon as a change wa- made from him to W. Collins. The only good apprentice riders here are jockeys Lawrence Lykes, Jack Brown, W. Collins. Willie Crump and Art Carroll. Some of the riders who rode in Tuesdays maiden jockeys race have been on the race track less than one year and have principally been "hot leaders." their duties being to walk horses which have been raced or worked until they "cool out." — New Orleans Times-Picayune.
