+ + | EXCELLENT FIVE-YEAR-OLDS WHICH ADDED TO THE QUALITY | OF OUR RACING LAST YEAR i 4- 4. Among the five-year-olds engaged in our racing of last year were some nailing-good race horses. A field composed of Boots, Konnier. Stromboli. Hodge. P.ayberry Candle. Leo Skolny. Thornhill. J. J. Lillis and King Worth, with weights skilfully adjusted, could have brought about a race worth a journey to witness. Whatever Boots may have been in Kngland. his exploits here made him out to lie a high-class race horse last year. He was exceptionally sjieedy. carried weight well and was a stayer. His was a case of a horse maturing slowly. Possibly if he had remained in England he would have won as well there last year as he did here. Konnier was not at his best last year, still he was not to lie trifled with and ran some capital races. Besides his six times second made him out to have been a trifle unlucky. Stromlxili was right in the front rank of our handicap horses. Our good live-year-olds which won ,500 or more wire the following: Horse. Pedigree Owner. Sts. 1st. 2d. 3d. Unp. Won. Boots b. g.
