CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Clar-ence Buxton has sold the contract, which he held on apprentice boy Willard Crooks, to W. T. Anderson. E. T. Zollicoffers shifty filly Fruit Cake, is showing splendid foim in her work-outs at the Fair C rounds and, if the track remains fast, will Ik- en tere.l ii one of the sprinting races in a few days. Wallhans.-r Brothers have shipped the four-year-old filly Shadow, by Charles Edward — Ilubra. to Churchill Downs, from Juarez. This racing firm is palatial Thirst for the Oaks both at Lexington and Churchill Downs next spring. Trainer Casey has Brant Hugh Brownes Irish horse Fair Mac. out in morning trials at the Fair Qraaads and the handsome thoroughbred is fast rounding into form. Fair Mac probably will be seen in action soon. Fe!ix Carr. who came to New Orleans three years ago when lining was revived, never has been heard of since. Carrs friends have been trying to find him since he disappeared here in 1914. — New Orleans limes- pi ayune. There are now 190 horses in quarters at the Lexington track and a large number will come in from the farms within the next week. The main track will be closed until good weather and the winter training will be done over the sand track and on the roads. Secretary O. D. Wilson of the Kentucky Association, is expecting a large number of third payments for the Breeders Futurity of 1!17, which is to be decided in the fall, and second payments for the same stake to be decided in the fall of 19LS. It is said the Wingfield stables horses to be campaigned in Kentucky and the east will include Bank. Scarlet Oaks, Slippery Elm. Star Shooter, Square Set. Minnow, Cladiola. Plucky Chap and eight two-year -olds. The horses will be prepared for their eastern campaign at the Tijuana track, and will be taken to Louisville just long enough in advance of the opening there to enable them to become acclimated and accustomed to the change in conditions.
