February 22. — Sasin won the Cirf-roth Handicap, valued at 88,688. The son Of The Picket was kept close up from the start and when iu the stretch he responded quickly, win n call d on, and win by four lengths. Second to him was the dd horse Lahore, which led for a mile ever a track heavy with mud. The old fellow was still fighting at the finish, but could not get daee p. Sasin. Slippery Elm was third. The latter fought on gamely, but the weight and distance was too much for him and he just listed long enough to take third money by a head from Ed Cadlhee. Despite the continual rain and the bad roads. a large crowd was on hand. Sasins victory wis a popular one and the crowd cheered for Clarence Baxtoa, his owner. Zenotek was the choice in the opening race, but after showing a good turn of sp-cd to the stretch tired badly and had nothing to do with the finish. The Dick Welles filly. Ethel Welles, quickly rac 1 into a long had. but tired badly in the closing strides and was doing her best to outstay Landslide, which would have won in another stride or two.
