HEIDER APPLIES FOR TRAINERS LICENSE. Decides to Give Up All Attempts to Ride Except in Making of His Own Junipers. New York. March 19. — Ernest Heider has applied to the National Steeplechase and Hunt Association .or .: trainers license aad Will handle a division of H. W. Sage., horses. Tim Donohue. as usual, looking after the main string. Heider has been riding jumpers for many year- and at times his work raaee close to being brilliant. His fall at Piping Rock last autumn was a serious one. putting him on the ailing list for many weeks, and he has decided to give up all attinpts to rile except in the making of his own junipers. He has several hones now m his care, but his stable will be materially strengthened when the Sage consignment is shipped up from Aiken. Elliott Cowdla, II.. who earned a more thin good record aa an avitator with the Preach since the outbreak of the war, will not return to France this summer, at lea -t not during the early part sf the s"as.,n. This means that he will take an active part in the amateur race meetings, where for many years he was rated as one of the most enthusiastic of the gentlemen rider-.
