KING HEROD, under punishment in the early running, was kept close up to the leaders and finished gamely through the final eighth, but cenld never get up. AMALGAMATOR came wide on the stretch turn, but gained steadily and outstayed PRIBXDLKSS at the end. FRIENDLESS tired as if short.
