DISSENTERS AT LOUISVILLE MAKE A FUSS WHEN THE JUDGES PLACE OLD K0ENIG FIRST IN A FAST RACE. Marie Miller Defeats Ima Frank from Start to Finish — Desire Scores a Lucky Victory — Billows Once More a Winner — Track Talk. Louisville. Ky.. May 21. For the first time in years in these parts, a mild demonstration was a feature becaaae of a difference of opinion with the judges in regard to the winner of a race. The ineid nt caase witli the windup of the fifth race, in which Old Koenig triumphed by a head over King loriii after a lousing stretch drive. Thoso standing to the left of the judges stand thought that King Sena had outstayed the Beverwyck Stables repros illative ami veered their dissent when the placing judges flashed Old Koenig as tiie winner. Then was no question of the fairness of the decision, for Old Koenig. running gamely ami holding to his eaane, won. but the backers of King Beria did not take into consideration the fact that the Baker horse was boring out in the last seventy yards and this was costing him some ground with ever.- stride. They simply took into account that King Corin. when flashing by them, appeared to have Old Koenig beaten. Like all incipient demonstrations, it was quelled instantly when the official bell clanged. The pan in Which the pair ngaged was at one mile for 11 purse of 81,888, and besides producing a splendid struggle, it was run in the fastest time of this meeting. The speedy Marie Miller made it three victnr«-s in a row. when she placed the ,000 handicap to her credit, in which she mtt formidable opponents, but administered to them a decisive beating. Ima Frank, regarded highly by her connections, was the runner-up all the way and Princa Ilermis furnished a surprise by landing third place, after closing an imnu-usc gap. Big Fields in First Two Races. Big fields went to the post in the first pair of races, which brought out the cheaper grade of bateee. Desire proved beat of the band of juv -piles in tlio initial dash ami won from Koran, but his victory was decidedly lucky and accomplished by the fact, that Koran stumbled in the last stride. J. S.
