RESIGNATIONS HANDED IN AT NEW ORLEANS. President MacDiarmid and Directors Marx and Le Beau Decide to Quit Racing Association. New Orleans. La., May 24. — Resignations were handed in by three directors of the Business Mens Racing Association immediately following the pronouncing of sentence by Judge Chretien of the Criminal District Court. Seven months imprisonment and a 00 fine was imposed on each of the officers and directors, but sentence was suspended by the court. Dr. George A. MacDiarmid, president of the association. Archibald Marx, who organized the regime, which is now in control of racing affairs here, and Victor Le Beau, manager of the De Soto Hotel, decided to quit after they heard sentence pronounced. Dr. MacDiarmid was made president and Mr. Marx director, when the order of things at the Fair Grounds was evolved last fall. Mr. Ix Beau is one of the hold-over directors. It is understood that there will be other resigna-oions from the board. I. B. Kennison, former president of the association, is now vice-president, general supervisor of the Fair Grounds nice meetings, and general manager of the National Farm and Live Stock show. Robert 8. Eddy is secretary and treasurer, having succeeded Samuel J. Hart in that position. Messrs. Macdiarmid. Marx and Le Beau are said to feel the stigma of conviction and sentence by the criminal courts keenly and they made it known to friends that they are not willing to continue any longer as officers and members of the Business Mens Racing Association.
