♦ — + RACING STATISTICS OF THE WONDERFULLY SUCCESSFUL MEETING AT CHURCHILL DOWNS + — — »f The spring meeting of the New Louisville Jockey Club, which began at Churchill Downs on Saturday. May 12. with the forty-third running of the Kentucky Derby, and closed on Friday. May 25. with the Kentucky Oaks aa the concluding feature, was even more successful than that of last year, which was generally considered a banner one. The attendance exceeded the expectations of the management and showed an in. lease of twenty-live per cent, over last year. Speculation in tin- mutuels was of houv v volume and the revenue from all sources enjoyed a healthy increase. The racing was of the highest order, with probably the greatest array of high -class boraea ever seen in Kentucky contesting the a cisioii of the rich stakes mid purses. During the twelve days of racing eighty - four races were decided and 02,710, a daily average of ,559, was distributed among the successful horsemen. Killings and Johnson, by virtue of Omar Khayyams victory in the Derby, bead the list of winning owmrs with 0,000 to their credit. Jefferson Livingston is second, his horses winning 84.288, while I V. Schorr, the Peverwy.k Stable. A. K. Macomber. Marshall Pros, and W. 11. Baker fel- lowed in the order named, each with over ,000 in stable earnings.
