MAKING PROGRESS AT GRAND RAPIDS. Grand Rapids. Mich.. June 12. — Joseph A. Murphy, , manager of the Thoroughbred Department of the West Michigan Fair Association, arrived in the , city yesterday and will remain here until the , meeting opening July 4. He announced that Wm. Snvder had been selected as starter, Herman i Conkling as associate judge and clerk of the scales i and John Carey as paddock judge. Mr. Murphy Will preside himself. The book for the first week will be issued tomorrow. ; Manv of the horsemen at Devonshire will 1 ship here for" the meeting. There is no better equipped track in the west than Comstock Park. ; It is proposed to make July 0 ladies day and July 6 will be furniture buyers day, when all the furniture men in the city will attend. The meeting has the endorsement of all of the , civic bodies of the city.
