HORSE OWNERS MAKE STATEMENT. Members of Horsemens Association Pledgo Themselves to Support Thorncliffe Meeting. Toronto, Out., July 14. Nearly every horse owner having horses in Toronto met this morning and passed the following resolution in reply to the request of the Thoroughbred Horsemens Association, for the members not to race at Thorncliffe on account of the pledge that was made last September not to race on any new track that was not licensed prior to September, 1913: "Be it resolved that we, the members of the Thoroughbred Horsemens Association, realize that the Thorncliffe Park Racing and Breeding Association has been in existence for several years, and we also know that races have been held by the Thorncliffe Park Racing and Breeding Association on their track previous to September, 1916, and that licenses have been issued in the past for the same and, knowing that the Thorncliffe Park Racing and Breeding Association has a good dominion charter, in fact, one of the best in Canada and, having seen their beautiful up-to-date plant and in view of the fact that they are giving liberal purses we pledge our co-operation and working support and will race at Thorncliffe Park July 21 to July 28, 1917. We do this as we are in Toronto, knowing the exact situation. We further 4p believe that we are not going back on our former pledge, for the above stated reasons." This statement is signed by the following committee appointed by the horsemen now in Toronto: T. A. Davies, A. I. Steele, N. R. Sutherland, J. II. Moody, Dillard Hill, Barney Cole and D. Howell.
