CURRENT NOTES OF THE TURF. Grant Hugh Brownes horses have arrived at the Mount Royal track for the meeting of the London Jockey Club. Jockey AAr. Taylor, riding at Dolbrimier Park, was notified that he had been drafted for army service and to report at Detroit. Robert Bain, well-known in eastern turf circles, escaped injury in an automobile accident Sunday, in which two of the party were killed. His wife, the daughter of Dr. Ashe, who jS ut present acting as an official in Canada, fortunately escaped with a severe shaking up. From Hot Springs comes the news that work will be rushed on the grandstand at Essex Park in order to have it completed in time for a fall meeting, plans for which it is said, are now under way. Horsemen at Montreal say that rumors from Ottawa are to the effect that the Canadian government will make an amendment to the Order-in-Council prohibiting betting on races after August 1, which will allow wagering on racing to continue until September 1, .
