: and YEARLING HALF-BROTHER TO THE GREAT R0AMER BRINGS 0,000 AT AUCTION SALE Saratoga, N. Y., August 4. The John E. Madden-W. O. Parmer consignment of yearlings was" put under the hammer this morning in the Saratoga paddocks, prior to the racing. Spirited bidding resulted when promising material was offered. The colt by Vulcain Rose Tree II. half brother to Roamer was the star of the sale and brought the handsome sum of 10,000. J. W. McClelland was the purchaser. Another in the Parmer band that brought a good price was the colt by the untried sire Assagai Touch Not, dam of Great Britain. He fetched ,600 and went to J. W. May, presumably acting for Schwartz Bros. The star in John E. Maddens band was the chestnut colt by Ballot Majolica. W. S. Kilmer secured him on his bid of ,000. Forty-one yearlings were offered and brought a total of 9,000. The twenty-three head from Parmers consignment brought a total of 7,500. The John E. Madden collection of sixteen head brought a total of 1,500. R. L. Travers and the Oak Ridge Farm, sold a colt and a filly in the consignment.
