DOUGLAS PARK AND LAT0NIA STAKES Attractive Offerings for the Kentucky Autumn Racing Campaign of This Year. The outlook for good racing in the coming fall campaign over the Kentucky tracks is cheerful and enticing. On the last page of this issue of Daily Racing Form will be found the stake offerings of the Douglas Park and Latonia Jockey Clubs. Their conditions will prove entertaining and attractive to owners and trainers. The Kentucky State Racing Comission only allowed the Douglas Park Jockey Club seven days for its fall meeting. Nevertheless, the club gives the same stake list as it did last year and announces that no purse will be of less than 00. The Latonia management is moving In the direction of. increasing the importance of its fall racing. This movement will have its culmination in 1919, when the 0,000 Latonia Championship will have its first running, in the presence of the greatest crowd ever assembled on a Kentucky race track. This year Latonia secured a grant of twenty-five racing days from the Kentucky State Racing Commission, on condition that its. provision of money be increased by 5,000, over and above what would be offered anyhow for stakes and purses. Of this ,000 is devoted to a new stake race for two-year-olds at a mile, which is intended to, and may, decide the two-year-old championship of 1917. Another ,000 is used in increasing values of stakes already established, and the third 5,000. is in reserve for special handicap and condition purse races of not less than ,000, which will be devised from time to time in the course of the meeting. All of whicli must appeal enticingly to owners. They should look over the conditions published today and forthwith proceed to make" the generous nominations well deserved by the stakes now offered. The added money, to Latonia Stake races, of last year lias been increased to the following liberal extent: The .Latonia Cup, ,500; Inaugural Handicap, ,000; Fort Thomas Stakes, ,000; Autumn Sending Stakes, 00.
