MUTUEL BETTING MEETS WITH FAVOR Cheyenne Racegoers Becoming Accustomed to Machine Method of Wagering Ladies. Day. Cheyenne, Wyo.. August 24. The weather has settled at last, today being perfect. This was the second Ladies day of the present meeting and the fiiir sex took advantage of the courtesy extended to them by the management, coming out to the course in large numbers. It is remarkable how the betting in the mutuel machines has grown. The opening day found among the people at the track, a great number of followers from Denver, who understood the system, but the local public is now becoming better acquainted with this method of wagering.. The gross receipts of the gate for yesterday, which was Red ,Crosn day, was ,100. This amount was turned over by Mr. Talbott to the local treasurer of the Red Cross. Horses are still arriving. Two carloads came in last night with twenty-six head in the shipment. T. A. Davies and J. Burks came from Detroit with sixteen in their car. They report two more cars on the way from the same place, which should arrive within the next forty-eight hours. Jockey Guy was set down by the stewards for ten days for rough riding on Finnigin in the third race. May Bock was claimed by R. n. Good for 00.
