FRAGO-NARD set a fast early pace, then raced in closest pursuit of the leader to the eighth- post, but tired in the final drive. SO LONG LETTY, away slowly, closed a big gap in the first quarter and finished gamely. CHIEF ITALIA was a forward contender in the early running, but tired in the last eighth. VALERIUS ran uoorlv. RALLYRAY made the running, excelled at the jumps and stuck to bis work gamely when challenged. MAN SLAYER, under slight restraint in the early running, saved much ground, but made poor landings at the last two jumps, then held on well to the end.
