THOROUGHBRED DAY AT NEW ORLEANS Now Orleans, La., September 11. As an incentive to have the horses, which will run at the Jefferson race meeting in Shrewsbury, on hand for the opening day, the fair officials have announced that there will be a "Thoroughbred Day" at the fair, which precedes the meeting and that a service saddle will be awarded the owner of the hc-ree which the judges select as the best in appearance. The fair opens November 21 and closes five days later. "Thoroughbred Day" will be the third day of the fair and horses from all over the country will bo exhibited after a parade. There are approximately 100 thoroughbreds in New Orleans now. The horses will march around the" race course and will pass a judges stand. The Judges will award a prize to the horse that appears to them as the best iu appearance. This contest will be one of form and general quality and not based on. any special qualifications. Defects that would not affect a horsess speed in a race will do so in the exhibition contest. A number1 of the horses now in the east and Kentucky will be at the Shrewsbury track to take part in the exhibition.
