GREAT UNBEATEN RACER RETIRED It had been feared for some time past that Hurry On could not again be wound up for a serious race, and it has now been decided to advertise him as a stallion for next year. It is much to be regretted that he could not take part in Cup races this year, but lie did enough last year to prove that he was out by himself the best of Ills contemporaries, and it is a long time- since we have seen such a big, powerful horse, of the Stock-well type, able to stay so well. It is quite providential that such a first-class descendant of Matchem should have come along just now, especially as his sire, Marcovil, is dead, and other sons of that sire Scatwell, for example are continuing to demonstrate the value of this male line. Hurry On is Inbred, through his dam, to the family from which Prince Soltykoff bred so many good stayers, such as Sheen and Thurio, and altogether the pedigree affords a welcome change from the everyday sort which we find at every stud. There is no Galopin, Hampton or Bend Or blood in Hurry On, and this fact alone will make him a most valuable mate for the multitude of modern marcs that are full of it, this more particularly as he inherits the Hagioscope touch through Lady Villi-kins, and this Speculum line can hardly fail to "nick" with Galopin. I presume Hurry On will stand at Luvington Park, but I have not heard as yet what his fee is to be. W. Allison in London Sportsman.
