GALLANT LAD began well, but was forced back In the first eighth, then finished gamely. JACKSTRAW came with a rusli in the stretch. ROSEWOOD set the early pace and tired near the end. OLIVE WOOD began slowly and had to bo hard ridden, but moved into the lead in the first quarter, then had to be ridden out in the last eighth to outstay ATALANTA. The latter lost ground by a wide s stretch turn and finished fast and gamely. CRYSTAL DAY raced forwardly all the way. TEX FOR-MAN finished well. HOLLINGER was outrun throughout. WARS AAV moved up steadily and passed OPPORTUNITY on the stretch turn, but could not withstand the winner. OPPORTUNITY set a fast pace, but tired after leading for three-quarters. TOM TIT showed speed, raced in closest pursuit and held on well in the final drive. CHICK BARKLEY suffered from interference and finished fast. ST. JUDE ran a good race. ERNEST B. and TIPIO SAHIB finished close up. GILLIGAN was in close quarters during the early racing. HAPPY THOUGHT set the early pace and quit. DOVEDALE was well up from the start and raced into the lead, but tired slightly near the end. THE GRADER set the pace hard held for the first three-quarters, but failed to respond when ridden hard. FAIRY LEGEND tired after going well for three-quarters. FOXY GRIFF and GLEIPNER were beaten after going a half mile. Overweights Roy, ZVi pounds.
