HOT SPRINGS AS WINTER QUARTERS Barney Schreiber Says Arkansas Resort Ideal Place to Train Horses During Cold I-Ionths. Xew York, December 7. The subject of winter quarters for horses was brought up by a number of horsemen in the AVaidorf yesterday. "Years ago, something like fifty," said old Jacob Pincus, "when I was riding, there was no place better than Xew Orleans for horses. "We used to go down there for a weeks racing and horses did so well that some of us used to remain there after the meeting until spring, but since then. I guess other places have been discovered just as good and perhaps better." David Gideon broke in with the suggestion that any place was pretty good so long as it was healthy, intensifying his remark by saying there were trainers and horses wiio did well on Long Island. A. J. .loyner belie vcJ Belmont Pari: was a good spot, except for the cold winds that whistled over the Hempstead Plains early in the morning. Someone then asked where Gene Leigh was wintering and Harney Schreiber immediately replied by informing the questioner that Jene Leigh was wintering in Hot Springs, Arkansas. "There is no spot like it in this country," said Schreiber. "The air is good, the water cannot be beat, it is neither too hot nor too cold and you can put a bet down if you feel like.- on some of the good tilings sent out from Xew Orleans and Havana."
