i ■ 1 LEXINGTON PROGRAM BOOK ISSUED Total Distribution to Horsemen in Stakes and Purses Amounts to 8.250— Escoba for Derby Trial. Ixington. Ky.. April 12. — Judge William II. Shellev this morning issued the program IsK.k for the Kentucky Associations spring meeting of fifteen davs. beginning April 23. A perusal of the conditions of the 10." races produces the conclusion that excellent s[iort is in prospect. The total distribution to horsemen in stakes and purses is to lie *«S. -2."i0. of which 111 i»er cent or *i;.N2."i will go to Un-American Bed Cross war fund. Twenty -six races for two-year-olds are written in the hook and there are forty races for which the distance will be one mile or over. John S. Ward today advised superintendent James P. Hoss that he will be here next Thursday from Douglas Park with sixteen horses, including Kenneth 1. Alex.-iiders Escoba. which is eligible for tho Derby Trial, and in which he is expected to meet Sun Briar. The conditions for the Derby Trial are: Purse ,000. for three-year-olds, weight 11.1 pounds: non-winners of ,000 twice, allowed three iiound*: ,000. or six races of 00. five pounds: maiden* allowed ten pounds: one mile ami an eighth. In addition the winner will receive a cup donated by the Kentucky Association. John Lowe came here today and got High Cloud and Sweeping Olnncc and shipis-d them to Ixiuis-ville. where he has fifteen horses in training. It was announced that he had purchased them from tin- Wickliffe Stable. They are two-year-old* by Iltimus and Sweep, respectively. High Cloud was knocked down at the sale on January 13 to Samuel Ko*s for ,000. but there was some question as to his soundness and he reverted back to James . i orrigan. Sweeping dance was sick at the time ami was not offered in the sale. TO BRING MICKEY SHANNON HOME. At a meeting of a uumlier of his l s-al friend* t!:i* afternoon, it was decided to have Mickey Shannon brought to I-xington from Memphis for treat- ment at a local institution and a dispatch was sent to John W. Schorr, requesting that he arrange to have him brought here. Turfmen here heard today with expressions of regret that 11. C. Hallenbeck had died at hi* home at Bed Bank. X. J. There wa* considerable improvement in the condition of the track today and the schooling of two-I year-olds at the barrier was begun J. B. Brail lions Hopeful 1 brother to Viva America! acts like an exceptionally good colt. W. H. Fizer and J. J. Troxler arrived here thi- morning from Hot Springs. Their hor*es are in a car that has been laid out somewhere along th* route. Troxler is bringing only Khymer. but will take up several others that are running out at the Military Stock Farm. Jockey Mack liarner. who is under contract in K. L. Baker, will ride also for Gallaher Brothers, who have second call for his services. a.- ■
