. ♦ H. C. HALLENBECK DIES SUDDENLY Prominent Eastern Turfman Passes Away at His Meadowbrook Farm in New Jersey. Xew York. April 12.— II. C. HallenlH-ck. one of the prominent owners of thoroughbreds in thi* country, died suddenly fast night at his Meadowbrook Farm. Shrewsbury. X. J., from an attack of acute indigestion. He returned from business yesterday -veiling and. after dining, was suddenly attacked with the malady and died shortly afterward. Mr. Hallenbeck was » 6 years of age and leaves a widow and one son. Mr. Hallenlieck had been interested iu thoroughbreds but about five or six years extensively. Possibly the lH-*t horse he owned was The Finn, winner of many stake races. At the present time there are twenty-one horses in the Hallenbeck stable, including Kashmir, a promising throe- vear-old. and several Knglish three-year-olds, bought last year from W. S. Heather, of the Rugby Stud, which "trainer Frank Taylor believes are promising. There are also a uumlier of two-year-olds of good blood. ____-- -_. The horses belonging to Frederick Johnson have arrived safely at Pimlico from Hot Springs. Two of the two-year-olds did not do well iu transit. Several of the Gwyn Tompkins horses, which he moved from Virginia to Pimlico, were taken off the can in a sickly condition. Training has lieen practically suspended on the local tracks since last Monday. The tracks at Belmont Park and Gravesend are both deep with mud and todav snow has been falling continuously. The horses have had a four-day setback. . •
