FIFTY NOMINATIONS FROM ABROAD English. Irish and French Breeders Make Entries to Latonia Championship Stakes of 1920. Cincinnati. O.. April 24. — No other American race has ever received such supi ort and patronage from abroad as is being accorded to the Iitonia Cham pionship Stakes, which is to have its initial running at Lateaia in the fall of 1919. Aud. conversely, it may be said, no English or French race has ever been so extensively patronized by Americans, not even excepting the famous Epsom Derby. The Rritish Hloodstock Agency has just forwarded to General Manager John Hachmeister. of the La -tonia track, exactly fifty entries from England. Ireland and France for the second running of the Latouia Championship Stakes in the fall of 1920. This reflects in no uncertain manner the growing interest which is being taken in this S50.000 race by foreign breeders, the foreign entries for the 1919 running of this richest of American races having totaled only thirty-six. The fifty entries which the British Rloodstock Agency has sent in represent the cieam of English breeding. None is of more interest to American racegoers than that of a half-brother to the celebrated Omar Khayyam, which is among five nominated bv Sir John Robinson. Sundridge. Sunstar. Neil Gow. All of the colts and fillies embraced in the above list are now yearlings and the majority of them are to bo sold at Newmarket in July or September. Their engagement in the Latouia Championship Stakes is expected to add to their value iu the sales ring, just as such engagements add to the value of American yearlings. In making public the list of nominations received from abroad Manager Hachmeister announced that a total of 342 entries had htea received from all sources for the Lato.ua Championship Stakes of 1920. The list of 1 linations is now being tabulated and will Ik- is-ucd in pamphlet form in tin near future.
