WAR CLOUD SENT THE DERBY ROUTE Given Good Work-Out Before Being Shipped to Louisville— Expect to Arrive There Wednesday. New York, April 29. — Whether Walter Jennings would leave I.elmont Park for Kentucky late this evening or wtit until tomorrow morning with his Derby candidate. Wat" Cloud, was not determined this afternoon. He was awaiting orders from the Pennsylvania Uailroad, but he was ready to load at a moments notice. The big steel horse car arrived at Delmont Park on Saturday and Jennings immediately had it fumigated, cleansed and fitted up for the reception of War Cloud, and he asparta to arrive at Louisville on Wednesday at the latest. The horse is in excellent condition and worked a mile ami a quarter in 2:11 on the main track this morning, covering the first mile in about lsM%. Trainers here say that War Cloud has been trained splendidly and is ready for some fast work as soon as he gets to his destination. Mr. Jennings has intimated that War Cloud is as good a horse as Star Hawk, if not lietter. and horsemen in this section who have watched his preparation are sanguine that he will beat Escoh.-i unless the latter has improved considerably since his appearance here last year. There wen- light showers this morning on Long Island, consequently little was doing in the way of work. Most of the larger establishments confined-their exercises to the mile training track. Trainers who are anticipating a trip to Pimlico. including Joyner. llealey and Welsh, are liccoming more than anxious about trans|ortation to Maryland. They have been promised cars for some days, but as yet nothing in the shape of a car has arrived, and tin- reiHitts from the express company are quite indefinite. While there are yet more than two weeks lH-fore the Preakuess is run. those having candidaPs would be more satisfied if they were on the ground. so that they could give their cliarir-s some fast work, which they have not yet received, though all are fit and ready for final preparation.
