1 1 EXTERMINATOR MEETS DEFEAT IN EAST Recent Kentucky Derby Winner Huns Second to Kilts II. at Belmont Park Terminal Saturday. tar York, May 2*. — Exterminator, the recent winner of the Kentucky Derby, made his local debut I at the Inited Hunts Racing Association meeting : Saturday at llelmont alark Terminal, lie was the odds-on favorite in the Turf and Field Highweight Handicap, but was heal en by J. He stands it; hands 2 inches, only one inch less than Sun Rriar. Mr. Kilmers other star three-vear-old. but is a lietter pro|M rtioncd and better developed animal than his stablemate. He is built along the lines of his sire, McGce, with strong shoulders and withers, fine long neck and racv legs. _ Seven officers — one of them Rritish. another French anil the rest American — rode in the International Military Highwc ight Handicap at a mile 1 ml a half. The allied riders were not successful. The winner turned up in Mrs. T. J. Donohues The ltrook. ri !d 11 by Major Stevenson of Camp Devens. The P.rook wen with ease, with J. Harper Ronnells lriiico Hal second, by six lengths and W. Smiths Amalgamator third, by five. Prince Hal was ridden by Ca.pt. Euing. while Amalgamator w;:s piloted by Lieut. Slianley. Lieut. .Mallet of France, in the uniform of the Mae Devils, came home in fourth place on Morton I.. Schwartz Arehdale. The Frenchman did not -eem to Ik- able to understand Archdales racing :«■ uliarities and the gelding did not develop his ex ,iected sp - d. He was tlie favorite at 7 to 5. W. R. Coe started two horses — Yermak, with l apt. Weider in the saddle, and Jack Mount, which was ridden by Lieut-Col. Jamison of the Rritish avalry. Neither figured. Toots, from the Glen Riddle Farm, with Lieut. Lee in the saddle, also started. The officers gave the meeting a military flavor and got a great ovation from the crowd. It had been expected that an Italian officer also wonld ride, but he could not obtain the necessary permission. The spring half of the Inited Hunts Double Kvent Steeplechase brought out only three starters The Belle of Rryn Mawr made the going most of the way and took the biggest end of the purse for VV. A. Prime. Al Reeves, from Mrs. Whitneys -ollectioii. was second, while tiold Bond, owned bv W. R. Coe. fell. * The last race at Belmont Park Terminal Saturday, where the one meeting of the Fnited Hunts K.-o-jng Association was held, was attended by a s.-ries of mishaps, five of the eight starters falling
