SHERMAN A. took the lead quickly and, while setting a fast pace, swerved to the inside when an eighth from the linish. but recovered quickly and won going away. OSGOOD raced in nearest pursuit all the way and finished gamely. DANCING CARNIVAL ran well, but was tiring at the end. GILDER finished with a rush and would have been third in a stride or two. PLUVIADA and LACEWORK ran promisingly. SWEElLET made up ground. Scratched — 38204 Unwise Child. 103. Overweights — Previous Jewel. 2 pounds; Fortunes Favor, 1%. SIR HELIO was always close up and outstayed WAR MACHINE in the final drive. The latter rau well and finished gamely. CURRENCY quit in the last quarter after running a fast half mile. CORAL, after being saved under stout restraint in the early running, passed BEN GOW in the final eighth and won going away. BEN GOW displayed much speed and made the pace fast, but tired when challenged. POACHER was a close contender in the early running, but came extremely wide when entering the stretch, then closed up with a good burst of sjieed when straightened out and was going fastest of the leaders at the end. TEA* CADDY passed RHINE MAIDEN 111 the last sixteenth, but could not withstand the winners rush. RHINE MAIDEN set a fast pace, but tin-d in the stretch drive. DECKMATE ran well.
