LAST DAY OF DOUGLAS PARK MEETING All Previous Records for Patronage Broken Racing Brilliant and High Class. Louisville. Ky.. June 10. — Only one day more of the local racing season remains. The Douglas Iark •Ckey Clubs soring uniting will come to a close toin-irrow and there will lie an interim of two days without racing on the Kentucky circuit before tiie sjiort is resumed with the opening of the Latonia Jockey Clubs summer meeting of twenty-six days M Friday. Like the meetings which preceded it at Lexington and Churchill Downs, the Douglas Iark meeting has Ik-cii a wondi rlul ■arena iu every way. All previous records f..r patronage at tliis track have iaea left far l .-l:ind this spring and the racing lias lieon positively brilliant. The meeting has done much "to emphasize the growing jiopularity of Douglas Dark as a center for high-class racing and will spur General Manager Haeluneister to renewed efforts to further jiopularise the sport at this well-conducted course in future years. Everyliody is looking forward to a record breaking meeting at Latonia. The program, which has beea laid out for tin- meeting, is the most anibi tious ever attempted at that track and special efforts will lie made by the management through out the meeting to cater to the high-class horses it all times. It is expected that the Mi for the Inaugural Handicap of iSL.OOO added on Friday -■. ill bring out Baaaaa, lLS: King Qaria, li: Pif Jr.. 1L*»; Hollistor. lLO: Handier, 115: Midway. 114: Kscobn. 110; Fruit Cake. 109; Arriet. 109; trecn Jones, ltd; Frceculter. 104; Heaverkill, 103, and Hribed Voter, Bat. The feat of Escoba in running a mile in 1 :3i*f, it Douglas Iark Saturday has served to confirm the conviction that has long prevailed that this good colt is likely to win the Latonia Derby, to be run June 22. He is a stronger favorite than ever for the race with Kentucky race-goers, as a result of Saturdays developments. Hut it looks aaar as if the east would have stronger representation in this race than seemed likely In-fore Harry Payne Whitneys good evil John-n won the Sti-aarbaa Baadicaa on Saturday. Tahrea is one of three noinin.it ions made from tli- Whitney stable for the Latonia Derby and the presumption is that he will come west to fill his engagement in this rich mile and one-half race. His Suburban victory will not entail any penalty for the Derby, in ohich he will carry IS pounds. EXTERMNAT0B PROBABLE STARTER. Willis Sharpe Kilmers Exterminator and William Martins Sunny Slope are other east-rn tiir»e-jear-ilds that are expected to come west for this race, ihe first named, liei-attse of his Kentucky Derby victory, will have to carry five iioiinds extra in the !--itonia fixture. The stable of J. K. L. Hoss will :lso have representation in the race, probably Foreground or Wigstone. which latter colt is said to be •specially promising. The outcome of the Spring Trial Stakes, marked by the dethronement of Hilly Kelly as the juvenile hampioii after tour straight victories, has thrown tie I wo-ye ir-old situation into confusion. Sen aings Iark. winner of the Spring Trial Stakes, is ■videntl.v a fair s.irt. but it remains to be stii if ne is of championship caliber. Morris and Waldens Ticklish, which came here with a great reputation crowing out of sensationally fast private trials at Iimlico. has failed to race as w ll as expected. Be has worked quite as sensationally since . his irrival here, but he shows much fractiousnesg at the starting post. In fact, he quite ware himself aH at tin- barrier Saturday before the start of the Baraag Trial. Harry Kelly. Basil, Kmden and Franklin are horses of prominence that are iu active training awe more after a considerable absence from racing. The first named worked a half in 49% yesterday for the first time since a cracked heel put him on the shelf ; t Lexington. aaajcaa Blrod will run his usual special train from here to Latonia at the conclusion of the local lariag neaaaa on Tuesday evening to accomodate the raciag folk.
