NEAR THE END AT LATONIA Only Two More Days of the Suc ¬ cessful Meeting Left Freecutter Wins a LongDelayed LongDelayedVictory Victory and Defeats Rancher Rancherand and Midway Track Talk Latonia Ky July 11 George 7 Longs Free cutter which has failed repeatedly in his last half dozen starts finally managed to achieve a brilliant victory when he triumphed over Rancher and Mid ¬ way in the mile and a sixteenth handicap which featured the card hut his success was in the main due to the timely judged ride that he received from Lunsford who nursed his high flight of speed during the early running and combining the reserve with a vigorous drive in the last eighth enabled him to outstay Rancher to the finish Rancher carried the big impost of 129 pounds and raced impressively Had the race been at a longer distance he would have won Midway acted unruly at the barrier and it caused him to waste considerably but at that had Thurber not brought him wide into the stretch and been able to give a more capable ride he might have won IchiBan one of the starters acted so badly at the barrier that she was solely responsible for the long delay there and when the start finally came it found her unprepared with tin result that she was virtually left at the post The threequarters race which was the next best offering of the afternoon resulted in a victory for Itlackie Daw in game style over Bon Tromp and Silk Lady The winner was best and ran to his top form taking the lead when called on by his rider and winning with speed in reserve though Bon Tromp was allowed to stay close to him at
