DRAFT BOARD CALLS JOCKEY CONNELLY CONNELLYJockey Jockey Danny Connelly came down from Latonia to interview his local draft board as he had been summoned to show cause why he should not b placed in Class 1 Danny is married but he claimed no exemption on his questionnaire on this account He said that he is willing and ready to go to war any time ho is called Ho will ride this summer at Saratoga and the rest of the Empire City meeting for Harry Morrissey who is training the horses owned by II A Porter millionaire Oklahoma oil man Connelly will leave for the east today to report to Morrissey Jockey Hugh Shilling who rode all winter and spring for Joo Umensetter was another arrival yesterday Shilling will spend the summer in these parts as the Umensctter horses will be rested at Churchill Downs DownsCharley Charley Nolle track superintendent at Douglas Park and Latonia will remain at the latter course for a few days and then take up his duties again at tho local track Nolte will hold down both positions for tho present as tho meetings at Doug ¬ las Park and Latonia cannot conflict Noltes work at Latonia this spring came in for a lot of favorable comment as horses especially those of the better class ran a second or more faster after ho went to work on tho track proper properBoth Both Churchill Downs and Douglas Park will bo kept in the best possible condition for tho horsemen all summer so that their charges will be goo and fit when they are asked to race again Lex ¬ ington likewise will be called on to accommodate a number of horses this summer and it is more than likely that many of the yearlings wll have to be moved outside of the Kentucky Association course to make room for the older horses
