LATONIAS BANNER AUTUMN MEETING Daily Purse Distribution Will Bo About 10000 Queen City Handicap Eligible Cincinnati O August 17 Shortly after the Ken ¬ tucky Kaclng Commission awarded fall racing dates General Manager John Hachmeister of the Douglas Park and Latonia Jockey Clubs got busy on his stake engagements for the fall meetings at both of his tracks Despite the fact that Douglas Park got only six flays for a fall meeting the Jockey Club not only raised all purses to 1000 but an ¬ nounced its usual stake program of three high class events featured by the lyjuisville Cup at two miles milesAt At Latonia the usual stake program which has prevailed for the last several years was announced with an increase in the added money value in two of the stakes In addition to the four stakes to be run at the twentyone day meeting of the Latonla Jockey Club which begins on Thursday October 10 and concludes on Saturday November 2 there will be an average purse distribution of about 10000 daily This big increase comes about by the voluntary action of the Latonia Jockey Club in making all purses of an average value of 1200 1200No No Jockey Club in the west or the east either for that matter has ever announced such a distri ¬ bution of added inoney for an autumn meeting This great sum to be given away coupled with the forty days racing program of all the Kentucky tracks I will certainly be the magnet for drawing the best I horses in the country to the Kentucky tracks tracksRacing Racing is the one outdoor sport which receives a sort of semiofficial sanction from the govern ¬ ment Not only does the War Department recog ¬ nize the necessity of racing but the huge revenue derived by the government from its operation goes a long way towards raising the ambitious reve ¬ nue needs to successfully prosecute the war warFive Five stakes with an added money valuation of 20500 will be run at Latonia The big offering of the fall meeting is the Latonia Cup race at two miles and a quarter
