PASSING SHOWERS VICTORY PLEASING By J IJ Jeffery JefferySaratoga Saratoga X Y August 20 The victory of Pass ¬ ing Shower iu the Spmaway Stakes on Saturday was especially pleasing to the wellwishers of John II Uosseter who has been expending his money so liberally to build up a breeding establish to carry his colors in future years It is only a short time ago that the announcement was made that Mr Kosseter who is one of Californias fore ¬ most citizens had purchased the stallion Friar Hock and twentyfive fashionably bred mares from John E Madden to add to his breeding stock in Sonoma County California where lie already had a small but choice band of mares imported from England The winning of the Spinaway is the first import ¬ ant success achieved by Mr Itosseter in racing al ¬ though his colors have been carried successfully in minor events upon many an occasion and it is natural that the winning of this important event will be encouraging to him It is a sure thing that Passing Shower will become one of the most highly prized broodmares at WickiUp Stud when her racing days end
