VALUABLE STAKE RACES TO CLOSE Churchill Downs is to have but six days of racing next fall Three good stake races have been pro ¬ vided for the meeting and they close for entries at midnight of next Tuesday August 27 The lieadliner of the three is the St Leger Handicap at two miles an event always productive of a highly interesting contest Last year and the year Dofore it was won by A B Hancock s staying mare Embroidery It was then run at two miles and a quarter but for this year the distance lias been made a quarter of a mile less The other stake races to close are the Falls City Handicap for threeyearolds and over at threequarters of a mile and the Golden Rod Stakes for twoyearolds at the same distance All these races call for lib ¬ eral patronage and their conditions are fully ad ¬ vertised in this edition of Daily Racing Form
