TURF GOSSIP FROM BLUE GRASS STATE Lexington Ky August 31 Judge William Shel ¬ ley returned to Lexington this morning from Louis ¬ ville and will remain here until after the race meet ¬ ing of the Kentucky Association which is to open September 17 for seven days The program book which was prepared by Judge Shelley and which 1ms been off the press for a week has met the approval of horsemen and it presages good sport The horses in training at the local tracks are numerous and in good condition With the close of the racing at Saratoga today it is expected that several carloads of horses will be shipped to Lex ¬ ington ingtonThe The yearling chestnut filly by Fair Play Star Cat lias been sold by Lucas B Combs to Burton S Castles and will be shipped to New York when John Miller goes that way wayJ J I Miller of Huntingtou W Vn lias purchased from John S Barbee the yearling brown filly by Sweep Miss Himyar and from Thomas B Jones the yearling chestnut gelding by Handsel Mo witzka They are being trained by Robert C Frakes at the Kentucky Association course The courseThe II II Hewitt string in charge of John I Smith lias arrived at the Kentucky Association course from Saratoga
