GAINSBOROUGHS FUTURE IN RACING Lady James Douglas was naturally overwhelmed with congratulations ou her success but her trainer and jockey were by no means forgotten Childs served his apprenticeship with Tom Jennings at Newmarket but Hindis his reputation in France whence he returned to England after the outbreak of war and his lucky star was in the ascendant when Lady James Douglas retained him to ride Gainsborough in all his engagements this year Tay ¬ lors classic record has been handsomely supple ¬ mented and he enjoys the unique distinction of supplying the first three in the September Stakes The sou is indeed a worthy successor to the father for he surely has no superior in the art of training and the latest proof of this was the perfect con ¬ dition in which Gainsborough was delivered at the post The crack has grown into a stylish deep bodied and powerful horse impossible to fault and unquestionably worthy to rank with the giants of the iwst He is a generous horse but reminds one of Isinglass in that he vill not unnecessarily exert himself always keeping something in reserve for a supreme effort if it should be wanted There is nothing likely to interfere with his triumphant progress in the Jockey Club Stakes notwithstand ¬ ing his penalty and all continuing well with him it is Lady James Douglas intention to keep the colt in training next year Gainsborough yearGainsborough is engaged in the Princess of Wales Stakes and there will be other big events open to him but already breeders have been trying to book nominations to the latest wonder London Sportsman
