LATONIA FAVORITES FAIL Disastrous Day for Form Backers When All First Choices Lose Toto Takes Main Bace of After ternoon Jockey Mooney Bides Three Winners Iitonii Ky November 26 Favorites were in totil eclipse this afternoon when not one of the first choices succeeded in getting in front The well backed horses were bowled over in rapid suc ¬ cession in a manner that was bewildering to their backers It was the most disastrous day the form followers have experienced in a long time The majority of the races went to extremely long priced horses the most notable of these being Jiffy High Gear Premium and Lady Langden The after ¬ noon was notable for the success that attended the stable of J B Respess horses from this establish ¬ ment accounting for two of the purses Lady pursesLady Langdcii in the oi ening dash made good for the Kespess stable by winning at odds of better than 6 to 1 while Jiffy also carrying the Respcss colors made good in the sixth race paying the generous odds of better than 23 to 1 The victory of Lady Langden was accomplished without any great effort but Jiffy had to stand the hardest kind of a drive to win his race from Don Dodge by a nose The finish in this race was so close that only the placing judges were able to determine the winner winnerOne One of the days features was the riding ability shown by J 3Iooncy In addition to piloting both of the Kespess stable winners he was responsible for the victory f Ernest B in the third race The finish of this race found Ernest B and Ilociiir close together anfl 3Iooneys superior riding Avoir for the Baker colt coltIt It was another day of sunshine and the geniil weather served to attract a big attendance Specu ¬ lation was good The track had dried out and was in fair condition for the first time since the advent of the muddy conditions k under which the racing had been carried on for over a week weekThe The cards feature an allowance dash for two yearolds at threequarters provided the chief at ¬ traction and brought puta fine field that included Frank Weirs triple winner of the meeting Toto Linden Kegalo GalliCurci American Ace and others American Ace carrying the colors of K Cebriau was making his initial appearance at the meeting and was installed a good first choice lie might have won but for getting away slowly His rdier perservered with him however and landed him in third place The winner turned up in Toto whcih went to the front on the last turn and easily outstayed Linden in the final drive driveEXTERMINATOR EXTERMINATOR TO START THURSDAY THURSDAYWillis Willis Sharpe Kilmers crack threeyearold Ex tenninator winner of the Latonia Cup on Saturday last War Machine Barry Shannon Freecutter Herald Drastic Kegalo Itnford Lothair and Tetley have been nominated for the Thanks ¬ giving Handicap of 2000 added one mile and onesixteenth which will be the big feature of the holiday card for the closing of the Latonia racing season on Thursday Weights and declarations for the race are due on Wednesday It is quite probable that Exterminator will be a con ¬ testant in the race In passing it may be suggesteil that Harry McDaniel made a unique record by win ¬ ning the first important event of the Kentucky season with this good threeyearold when he ac ¬ counted for the Kentucky Derby in May and like ¬ wise the final and most important event of the fall season the Latonia Cup CupWith With the running of Tuesdays program the big Ked Cross fund of 300000 which the racing inter ¬ ests of Kentucky are raising for the Ked Cross was completed So far as the owners of horses are con ¬ cerned and during the remaining days of the meet ¬ ing there will be no further deductions of 10 of tlw purses for this purpose purposeThree Three carroads of horses from Lexington will join the big special shipment of horses from La ¬ tonia for Cuba on Friday at Paris Ky Two of the cars will carry the stable of Howard Oots and 31 Lowenstein while the other car will be filled with the stable of J O G H Keene KeeneJockey Jockey J Gniber left tonight for New Orleans Jockey O Willis departed for that racing point Monday night
