5000 SILVER BANK IN WASHTUB LONDON Eng November 20 During the war in connection with the war bond campaigns many secret hoards of gold coin were surrendered for the benefit of the country but one of the strangest hoards turned tin at Newport Monmouthshire MonmouthshireA A woman walked into a bank and informed the receiving cashier that she wanted to deposit 5000 A taxicab was outside and the woman was assisted to carry the heavy bags into the bank All the money was in silver and not a coin was smaller than a twoshilling piece 48 cents The woman informed the bank manager that she and her hus ¬ band had sat up the previous night counting the money which had been kept in a washtub
