SUN BRIAR WINTERING WELL Mr Kilmers Great Horse Not Likely to Go to Europe Exterminator and Two Year Olds Oldsto to Be Trained at Hot HotSprings Springs Ark BIXGIIAMTOX X Y December 19 It was n mild early winter day when a first visit was paid liv a Daily Racing Form reporter to Sun Briar Court and after receiving a most hospital welcome liy Willis Sharpe Kilmer the proud possessor of tiie great Sun Briar an inspection found every horse on the place in the best of health They surely ought to l e in such orderly clean and thoroughly sanitary stables as Mr Kilmers Naturally one first asked to see Sun Briar the largest money winner in the world last year and holder of the American record in a regular race at one mile The toll is high in flesh at present not having raced since his memorable trial of a mile in 134 at Saratoga September 31 31It It is easy to express an opinion of Sun Briars appearance as he is today lie is the handsomest horse in America and looks the exact part cf what he surely is a highclass all around nice horse at any distance lie is as sound as lie ever was anil racegoers may have the pleasure of see ¬ ing this really wonderful horse under colors again the ooniiug year as Mr Kilmer is undecided as to the future of his favorite In the next stall stands Exterminator the win ¬ ner of the coveted Kentucky Derby and the only horse to win that cherished event and the Latonia Cup While not as high a class horse as his more famous stablcmate and nothing like us handsome tlieunsexed son of McGee is a decidedly useful ort as attested by the fact that he was third in inthe the list of American winners for the racing season seasonjust just closed These two are the only horses now at Sun Briar Court that are not turned out in the paddock during the day with the exception of the stallions Magic nd Allumeur The former is a magnificent looking burse lie l eat tle gieat Bayardo for the Good ¬ wood Cup two and onehalf miles and is a brother to the highly successful English sire Buckwheat The twoyearold Mormon is wintering well and while he won but once at Saratoga he was seconJ to Billy Kelly and Kterual in stakes later on Mormon was a late foal and should show decided improvement the coming year Most cf the Ogdeus improve with age ageZXTEZSiniATOB ZXTEZSiniATOB TO GO TO EOT SPBINGS SPBINGSIt It is the present intention to ship all of the coming threeyearolds six in number with Exter ¬ minator to Hot Springs the latter part of January In charge of trainer Henry McDaniel who has handled the Kilmer stable so successfully the past two years McDaniel trained the winners of more money than any trainer in America last year and is the only trainer who ever won the Saratoga Special the Hopeful the American Derby and the Kentucky Derby Mr Kilmer is comparatively a newcomer in racing and has probably had more success than any tvrfman in the same length of time that he has been engaged in racing II I Whit new alone sharing with him the honor of winning the Saratoga Special Kentucky Derby and Hopeful Stakes Mr Kilmer accomplished this in less than one year yearSun Sun Briar Court is undoubtedly the best appointed stock farm in America and the training quarters cannot be excelled An eighth of a mile tan bark circular course twentyfive feet wide all inclosed in tile and glass makes a psrfect track to gallop the horses all winter All the stalls open on this so the horses never have to go out ¬ side to exercise during bad weather weatherMr Mr Kilmer now has thirtyeight brood marcs most of them imiwrtcd ami by the best of English sires Among the most noted are Royal Quest sister to the sensational The Tetrarch Miiige by Trenton dam of Luke McLuke Conference by Rock Sand and a halfsister to Whisk Broom three good mares by Iolymelus a halfsister to Grand Fleet Itnbia Granda the dam of Ultima Tluile Misty Law by Ayrshire War Doll halfsister to War Marvel Lovelight bv St Amant Marienwerth by Isinglass St Fey by St Frusquin Lady Echline by Cyllene sire of four Epsom Derby win ¬ ners Contessina halfsister to Beppo a great race horse and sire of Gay Crusaders dam and also of My Dear the best threeyearold filly in England this year yearBesides Besides these there are several mares by Star Shoot one by Hamburg and two by Disguise and a better looking band of mares cannot be seen anywhere Sun Briars dam is still in France and lias a foal a brother to Sun Briar BriarA A twoyearold filly by Prince Palatine and an ¬ other by Polymelus left England for Sun Briar Court December 13 All in all the stables and accommodations A at Sun Briar Court are the most expensive and best on any stock farm in this country if not in the world All were designed by Mr Kilmer himself
