G W LOFT OWNER OF CRACK YEARLING Donnacona Soa of Prince Palatine Kildonan a Prize Youngster in Breeding and Conformation NEW YORK X Y December 19 G W Lof has a particularly finelooking and promising year ¬ ling wintering at Belmont Park This is an Eng linshbred colt Donnacona by name a son of the great Prince Palatine Kildonan the latter one of the most highly priaed brood mares in England EnglandAs As far as breeding goes this youngster would be hard to boat His sire Prince Palatine sold for i 20UOOO the highest price ever paid for a thor ¬ oughbred and besides being one of the greatest horses of his day on the turf lie was a royallybred one his sire being the incomnarable Persimmon while his dam Lady Ligktfoot was by that king of the English turf Isinglass and from Glare Kil ¬ donan was by Ladas which like Persimmon and Isinglass also was a Derby winner On botli sides of the house Donnacoua receives that wonderfully fast strain which comes down from Paraffin through Glare and Illuminata then through a daughter of Barcaldine and then through four generations of the iiriceless Agnes family undoubtedly the most higlify nrised family for producing dams to be found in the English Stud Book BookDonnacona Donnacona shows his rare aristocratic breeding rather in quality than in quantity in accurate balance exquisite finish faultless racing outlines and certain bloodlike qualities in every outline Stand ¬ ing squarely on faultless legs he has a rather long and beautifully tapered neck lean and muscular but gracefully arched and crested rangy oblique shoulders a deep full chest correctly arched be ¬ tween the forelegs a Ions cylindrical barrel broad and muscular loin immense quarters of great length and graceful finish massive stifles deeply let down and with points well spread powerful gaskins clean bony hocks short canonbones clean and flat and splendid pasterns and feet One of his most taking features is his small bloodlike head with broad flat forehead wide clean and muscular jowls and a fine beautifully tapered muzzle while his eyes are big bright and have a look of some ¬ thing like human intelligence Another Loft yearling of more than ordinary promise is On Watch a son of the mighty Colin Rubia Granda This youngster resembles his illus ¬ trious sire and even now looks like a real race horse
