LIEUT COCH RAMS PLANS IN ABEYANCE Has No Racing Material at Present Only Wean ¬ lings and Brood Mares at His lit Kisco Farm XEW YORK X Y December 19 Among the younger generation of trainers is William It Midgely who for the past few years has had charge of Lieut Gifford Coclirans stable At the present time Lieu tenant Cochran has no horses available for racing though he has nine weanlings and fifteen brood mares at his Mount Kisco Farm Whether he will purchase some horses upon his return to this country is a question he only can answer The last letter I received from him said Mr Midscly was dated in October in which he said he would try to get home for a visit some time in January But since that letter was written hostilities have ceased and he may return permanently in the near future Whether lie will buy some horses or wait until those of his own breeding develop I can ¬ not say continued his trainer It is a question of just how ha feels about it I should not be sur ¬ prised ts see him step off the ship any day and when he does he will answer the question about his future turf affairs In the meantime I am living the life of a gentleman with little or nothing to do but I am willing to take over a few horses just to keep my hand in and be uptodate with the moving horse world worldWilfriil Wilfriil Viaus change of plans in regard to his good colt Omar Khayyam was probably brought about by the fact that if he was shipped to France for racing purposes he would have little opportunity there owing to the conditions that prevail in France where but few stakes for foreignbred horses are provided This probably means that the first plans of Mr Viui to take his entire stable to France next year have been abandoned He no doubt realizes his horses have much greater earn ¬ ing posibilities on this side of the Atlantic Handy McXaugliton his trainer will no doubt appreciate the change of program as he was not particularly keen on moving his home to France until things were more settled
